ASABA/Nigeria: The leadership and stakeholders of the Ijaw ethnic group in Delta State have pledged their unwavering support for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, committing to back him beyond his first term. This pledge of loyalty was conveyed by Alaowei Broderick Bozimo, former Minister of Police Affairs and Chairman of the Ijaw Leaders and Stakeholders, during a visit to the Governor at Government House, Asaba.
Bozimo, a respected elder statesman, expressed the Ijaw nation’s appreciation for Governor Oborevwori’s developmental strides and dedication to their communities and Delta State at large.
“It brings me immense pleasure to personally express our profound gratitude for the remarkable work your administration is achieving for the Ijaw nation,” Bozimo said.
“I want to thank you for the extraordinary contributions you’ve made to our people, both personally and culturally. You are a Governor who surprises us all with your commitment.”
The former Minister acknowledged the Governor’s visible impact across the state and noted the Ijaw people’s eagerness to support him in future elections. “Anyone who visits Delta can witness your achievements. We have a list of what you’ve done for the Ijaw nation and, as always, some additional areas where we seek your attention. We truly appreciate you from the depths of our hearts,” he added.
Bozimo also assured Governor Oborevwori of their full support should he seek re-election in 2027. “You won’t need to campaign, come 2027. We’ll campaign for you ourselves because we, the Ijaw nation, stand firmly behind you. You’ve earned our trust as a ‘talk-and-do’ Governor,” he affirmed.
In response, Governor Oborevwori expressed heartfelt condolences to Bozimo on the recent passing of his daughter, offering prayers for the family’s comfort. He then extended gratitude to the Ijaw people and the Delta South Senatorial District for their overwhelming support during the recent elections, in which he won across all local governments in the district.
The Governor commended the Ijaw nation for their unity and the loyalty demonstrated by Bozimo, noting, “Your leadership within the Ijaw nation is commendable and an example for others. You stood by one of your own during the primaries, and the Ijaw people recognise your commitment to their collective strength.”
Oborevwori also affirmed his commitment to addressing the concerns raised by the Ijaw leaders, acknowledging their contributions to his electoral success. “I recognise the unity that brought us here, and I assure you that I will carefully consider each request you’ve made. The role you played in securing Delta South, even as my district faced some challenges, is appreciated.”
He called for increased unity across Delta State’s diverse ethnic groups, highlighting the Ijaw nation’s cohesion as a model for fostering a stronger, unified Delta.
