URO-IRRI/Nigeria: Former Director-General of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) and All Progressives Congress (APC) Delta South Senatorial aspirant, Sir Itiako Malik Ikpokpo, KSM, has called on his supporters to put the outcome of the party’s recently concluded primary elections behind them and rally behind all APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ikpokpo made the appeal while addressing members of his political family during a meeting at his country home in Uro-Irri, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State. Acknowledging that the party primaries generated concerns among some members, he urged party faithful to embrace reconciliation, strengthen internal cohesion and channel their energy towards delivering victory for the APC at the polls.
According to him, the forthcoming general elections represent a defining moment in Nigeria’s democratic journey and provide an opportunity for citizens to consolidate democratic governance by electing leaders with the vision, courage and capacity to accelerate national development.
“The forthcoming general elections are consequential to deepening our nation’s democratic credentials and electing bold, courageous leaders with the competence and political will to bridge the governance gap associated with our nation’s sixty-six-year trajectory. I firmly believe that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori represent such leadership,” Ikpokpo stated.
He urged members of his political structure to move beyond the disappointment of the primaries and intensify grassroots mobilisation across Delta South Senatorial District, stressing that the APC’s success in 2027 would depend on unity, commitment and sustained engagement with the electorate.
“I earnestly seek your understanding and unwavering support as we prepare for the campaign for the re-election of our President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR; our Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori; and all other candidates of our great party,” he said.
Ikpokpo disclosed that his political movement would, in the coming weeks, embark on an extensive mobilisation campaign across communities and wards in Delta South and other parts of the state to popularise the APC’s Renewed Hope for MORE Agenda. He said every member of the party has a critical role to play in ensuring a decisive victory for the APC in the next general elections.
The former ALGON Director-General maintained that the APC remains the most credible platform for delivering sustainable development, inclusive governance and economic prosperity. He expressed confidence that the party’s policies and programmes would further reposition both Delta State and Nigeria if entrusted with another mandate by the electorate in 2027.
Reaffirming his loyalty to the APC, Ikpokpo pledged to work closely with party leaders, stakeholders and supporters across Delta State to strengthen party unity and ensure victory for the APC in all elective positions. He urged members to remain steadfast, focused and committed to the collective goal of building a stronger and more prosperous Delta State and Nigeria.
