Illegal Collection: Houses Burnt in Ushie, One Killed

Ushie 1Crisis broke out in Ushie community, Ndokwa East L.G.A between the Umuoku family and some youths of Ushie believed to be cultist. The crisis which broke out on Sunday May 29 2016 have left one person dead and three houses burnt. The crisis was said to have started when some youths approached a member of Umuoku family to demand for Development money on his building project. The member of Umuoku family refused to pay the said money stating that he is a bonafide indigene of Ushie.
This led to a serious argument between the youths believed to be members of a cult group and the Umuoku family of Ushie. As at press time one person simply named Pat have been reported dead and three houses belonging to the Umuoku family have been burnt down.
The Acting Chairman of Ndokwa East L.G.A Hon Okonta Dickson visited Ushie community on Monday 30th of May 2016. He pleaded with the people of Ushie to be peaceful and law abiding. The community chiefs were told to handle the peace talks and alert the Acting Chairman whenever it is necessary. The Acting Chairman regretted the loss of life and the burnt houses and encouraged them to forgive each other in order for them to live in peace. The security agencies have started their investigation.
