Illegal Impeachment Plot in Rivers State Threatens Tinubu’s Administration, Warns Timi Frank

ABUJA/Nigeria: Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has issued a stern warning regarding the ongoing illegal impeachment plot against the Governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara. Frank cautioned that if allowed to proceed, this move could have a devastating effect on President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

In a statement released in Abuja, Frank emphasized the critical role Rivers State plays in Nigeria’s economic, social, and political landscape. He highlighted Governor Fubara’s democratic mandate, stressing that any attempt to unlawfully remove him would not only spark a severe political crisis but also jeopardize the state’s economy and impede development initiatives.

Frank accused Governor Nyesom Wike of orchestrating the impeachment plot to undermine the Ijaw people in Rivers State, noting that Governor Fubara’s tenure represents the first time a governor from the Ijaw ethnic group has led the state since 1999. Frank urged President Tinubu to intervene and prevent Wike from installing another Ikwere man as governor through what he described as “the back door.”

He further criticized Wike for allegedly attempting to manipulate the Rivers State House of Assembly to impeach Governor Fubara, arguing that the lawmakers who defected from the PDP to the APC should not be recognized under the Nigerian Constitution.

Frank called on President Tinubu to uphold peace, law, and order in Rivers State, emphasizing that Wike’s actions could provoke the Ijaw people and lead to wider unrest in the region. He urged Tinubu to reject Wike’s alleged tribalistic agenda and ensure that Governor Fubara is allowed to fulfill his electoral promises to the people of Rivers State.

In conclusion, Frank warned that any escalation of the crisis in Rivers State could have far-reaching negative consequences for both the state and the country as a whole. He urged President Tinubu to hold Wike accountable for his actions, citing allegations of inflated revenue figures during Wike’s tenure compared to the current administration led by Governor Fubara.

Frank cautioned that Wike’s attempts to use federal resources to bolster his political standing in Rivers State would be met with strong resistance from the Ijaw people, who are determined to protect their political interests. He echoed the calls of prominent Ijaw leaders, including Chief E.K. Clark and Alhaji Asari Dokubo, for an end to Wike’s alleged political machinations in the state.
