The 40, 000 Litres Solar Powered Water Scheme, Inam-Abbi, Commissioned by Sir Kenny Okolugbo
The Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) has commissioned a Borehole Water Scheme in Inam-Abbi, Ndokwa west Local Government Area.
The water project, according to the contracting company is valued at N22 Million Naira and was executed by the State Government through the state oil producing Development Commission, DESOPADEC.
Commissioning the project, the member representing Ndokwa Nations at the Board of DESOPADEC, Sir Kenny Okolugbo says that water is a necessity of life and communities should not be denied the access of it. Speaking further he thanked the state Governor, Dr Emmanuel Ewata Uduaghan for approving the project and its completion.
The water project as observed is a solar powered scheme with an auto sensor for self operation. Sir Okolugbo in an interview after the commissioning says the project was tested for two months before the commissioning; this was to check for issues that will militate against the smooth functioning of the project.
One unique feature of the project design was that apart from the capacity of 40,000 litres, every street in the community is piped. Homes can also connect without using the public taps.
Reacting to the project, the people of Inam-Abbi through Chief John Chukwu, thanked the state Governor and Commission for the project.
Also the Commission commissioned a solar street light project at Abbi town. The project which was executed by Jichek and Company Limited, a phase two project of 21 poles. The DESOPADEC Commissioner during the commissioning says that the phase one of the project was earlier commissioned with 22 poles, while the phase three was recently awarded.
The people of Abbi interviewed talked of the good the lightening has brought to the community since they were installed. They thanked the government of Governor Emmanuel E. Uduaghan for his developments strive.
