UDU/Nigeria: The INEC Resident Officer in Udu Local Government Area (LGA), Mrs Blessing Suleiman has pleaded with residents in the area to make deliberate effort to collect their permanent voter’s cards (PVCs) before the deadline for collection to enable them exercise their franchise in the forthcoming general election.
The INEC boss made the call in a keynote address she delivered during the voter’s education and enlightenment campaign tagged “Enough of void voters” at the Udu motor park in Udu Local Government Area, stressing “It is impossible to vote for the candidate of your choice with PVC just as it is impossible to travel abroad without visa.”
On achieving peaceful election, Mrs Suleiman charged parents to caution their children and wards to desist from thuggery and other acts inimical to the electioneering process but to comport themselves properly during the election stressing that successful election could only be achieved in an atmosphere of peace.
The National Orientation Agency (NOA) LGA, Mrs Florence Arute had earlier identified voter’s education and enlightenment as key factor for a successful election.
Mrs Arute urged those present to see the campaign as an opportunity to learn what to do to make their votes count as well as ensure the overall success of the election.
The highpoint of the campaign was the teaching of the people by the INEC officer on how to recognize the political party of their choice by matching the party name with their respective logos and symbols as well as how to thumbprint legibly and vote correctly to avoid the problem of void votes in the 2019 general election to its barest minimum.
