ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Government says its aggressive investment in infrastructure is yielding tangible gains in economic growth and political stability, with ongoing projects across the state reinforcing public confidence in governance.
The Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, made this known while speaking on Politics Tonight, a programme on Television Continental (TVC), where he outlined the Oborevwori administration’s strategic focus on development as a tool for inclusive progress.
Aniagwu explained that the government’s deliberate emphasis on rural road construction and rehabilitation is designed to unlock economic opportunities and improve connectivity across communities in the state.
According to him, infrastructure development remains a central pillar of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda, with visible impact already being felt in agricultural productivity, commerce and social integration.
He disclosed that major urban renewal projects, including the three flyovers in Effurun and Warri, are nearing completion, while similar works at Otovwodo Junction in Ughelli and Uromi Junction in Agbor are progressing steadily.
The commissioner added that several rural roads that had been neglected for years are now being rehabilitated, linking riverine and agrarian communities to urban markets.
He noted that the development is not only improving the livelihoods of residents but also strengthening trust between the government and the people.
Aniagwu stressed that the administration’s infrastructure push goes beyond road construction, describing it as a governance philosophy aimed at achieving inclusive growth and balanced development.
By focusing on underserved areas, he said, the government is bridging long-standing development gaps and ensuring equitable distribution of resources across the state.
On the political climate, Aniagwu maintained that Delta State remains peaceful and united under Governor Oborevwori, attributing the stability to the visible impact of ongoing projects.
He argued that governance driven by results naturally earns public goodwill, adding that the administration is more committed to performance than rhetoric.
“The essence of governance is to improve the lives of the people, and that is exactly what Governor Oborevwori is doing through massive infrastructure development,” he said.
Aniagwu further assured that strict supervision mechanisms are in place to guarantee quality and timely delivery of projects, noting that contractors are being held accountable to ensure value for money.
He also linked improved infrastructure to enhanced security, explaining that better road networks facilitate the movement of security agencies while opening up previously isolated communities, thereby reducing crime and fostering peace.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, the commissioner said more projects are underway, particularly in rural areas, as part of efforts to sustain development momentum across Delta State.
He added that the administration’s combination of infrastructure expansion and responsive governance is gradually redefining the political landscape in the state, where performance is becoming the true measure of leadership.
