LAGOS/Nigeria: Inq Group, a leading Pan-African edge technology provider, has announced the development of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) product aimed at revolutionizing the energy market in Nigeria. The Chairman of Inq Group, Mr. Andile Ngcaba, revealed the exciting news during a press briefing held in Lagos on Tuesday.
The newly introduced AI solution is designed to integrate seamlessly into the distribution networks of energy distribution companies (DisCos). Its primary objective is to enable real-time analysis of energy flow and effectively track energy leakages within the system. Inq Group operates in ten countries across emerging markets, with a specific focus on leveraging AI to enhance energy generation, transmission, and distribution in Nigeria.
Mr. Ngcaba emphasized that Inq Group’s commitment to providing tailored solutions using AI has proven effective in the energy sector across the ten countries of its operation. He expressed confidence that the company’s capabilities in AI would elevate Nigeria’s position in information technology to a much higher level.
“Inq possesses a unique capability in Africa when it comes to Artificial Intelligence. We have locally developed the continent’s leading intellectual property in this field,” stated Mr. Ngcaba. He further emphasized that Inq’s AI products are not mere plug-ins but comprehensive, locally built solutions.
The company aims to spearhead the adoption of AI on the continent, specifically in crucial sectors like agriculture, energy, and digital recognition. By bringing AI to Nigeria, Inq Group intends to ensure the country’s active participation in the global AI race.
Mr. Valentine Chime, the Managing Director of Inq Nigeria, highlighted the current challenges faced by electricity distribution companies in Nigeria. He noted that DisCos have struggled to remain profitable due to the lack of proper analytics for distribution tracking and leak detection.
“This is where we come in. We are already in talks with the government for adoption,” added Mr. Chime, underlining Inq Group’s commitment to support Nigeria’s energy market through its innovative AI solution.
Having operated in Nigeria for about four years, Inq Group has already made significant contributions by providing enterprise-level cloud, connectivity, and IoT solutions to businesses in the country. With the introduction of their AI product, the company aims to play a pivotal role in transforming Nigeria’s energy landscape and promoting its technological growth in the AI domain.
