ABUJA/Nigeria: The Member Representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency in National Assembly, and Chairman House Committee on Treaties, Protocols and Agreements, Rt. Hon. Rev. Ossai Nicholas Ossai (Phd), has felicitated with Ndokwa and Nigerian Youths on the occasion of the International Youth Day 2020, saluting their resourcefulness, calls for effective administration and utilization of the Federal Government N75billion Nigerian Youth Investment Fund (NYIF).
Hon. Dr. Ossai said “the 2020 IYD which is commemorated under the theme: ‘Youth Engagement for Global Action’ seeks to highlight the ways in which the engagement of young people at the local, national and global levels is enriching national and multilateral institutions and processes, as well as draw lessons on how their representation and engagement in formal institutional politics can be significantly enhanced.”
He further noted that “the 2020 theme was significant in many ways, stating that mainstreaming the youth to realize their highest potentials and contribute their energy, resourcefulness and ingenuity for national transformation must be the task of all if any meaningful global youth led action could be achieved.”
He used the opportunity to commend the federal government for finally establishing the N75billion Nigerian Youth Investment Fund, noting that he was a major advocate for a deliberate and targeted investment for youth to develop and drive the frontiers of Nigerian economy through creativity and innovation. He called for transparent and judicious management and administration of the investment fund for the benefit of all youths irrespective of ethnicity, political affiliation or religion.
Hon Ossai Ossai, who is fondly called legislative maestro used the occasion to pay special tributes to the youth of Ndokwa nation for their resilience, hard work and commitment towards the development of the area.
“I appreciate the youth of my constituency and I call on Ndokwa Youth to monitor programs around the N75 billion Nigerian Youth Investment Fund so as to take full advantage of the policies, programs and projects of government around it”.
“No nation or group can grow more than the level of investments in the youth, harnessing the incredible energy of young people is critical for development, I pledge to continue my drive for youth human capital development in the area of agriculture, education and other sectors for the holistic development of Ndokwa Nation”.
“I join the global community to salute and celebrate the energies and resourcefulness of our youth.”
