OLEH/Nigeria: Political leaders and stakeholders of the Isoko Nation have reaffirmed their support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, in 2027, while using a reception in honour of the governor to renew calls for improved infrastructure and electricity supply across Isoko communities.

The position was reiterated on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, during a grand reception organised for Oborevwori and his wife, Deaconess Tobore, at Isoko House, Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area, where the governor was conferred with the traditional title of Orhuerevwo, meaning Developer of Isoko Nation, while his wife received the title of Ododo, meaning Beautiful Flower.

The ceremony attracted traditional rulers, political leaders, captains of industry and other prominent personalities from Isoko land.

Speaking at the event, President-General of the Isoko Development Union (IDU), Prof. Chris Akpotu, described Oborevwori’s administration as one that had placed considerable attention on infrastructure development, noting that the Isoko people’s support for his MORE Agenda also reflected their confidence in President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

However, beyond the political endorsement, Akpotu drew attention to outstanding development needs in the area, appealing to the governor to prioritise the construction of the road linking the IDU Secretariat to Olomoro and Iwride-Iyede.

He also called for urgent intervention to restore electricity supply across Isoko communities, which have continued to experience power challenges.

Responding, Oborevwori described the reception as a homecoming, expressing appreciation for the recognition and the support extended to his administration by the Isoko people.

He said the Ijaw, Itsekiri and Isoko ethnic groups in Delta South had expressed support for his re-election and that of President Tinubu, describing the development as an indication of growing political cooperation within the district.

The governor assured the people that his administration would continue to pursue equitable development across the state, highlighting ongoing and completed infrastructure projects as evidence of its commitment.

Among the projects he mentioned was the Emevor-Orogun Road Phase II, alongside interventions in healthcare, education and other critical sectors.

He also disclosed that the Trans-Warri Road, including its 15 bridges, had been completed and was awaiting commissioning.

Expressing confidence in his administration’s performance, Oborevwori said his government had concrete achievements to present to the electorate ahead of the next election.

“We have instruments to campaign. I have what to show. I have report cards,” he declared.

On the request for the Oleh-Olomoro-Iwride-Iyede Road, the governor assured the community that the appeal would receive attention.

He also addressed the persistent electricity challenges in Isoko land, attributing part of the problem to the vandalisation of the Ughelli-Ozoro transmission line. He said efforts were ongoing to restore the damaged infrastructure and improve power supply to affected communities.

The governor further issued a warning to contractors handling state projects, particularly the Ellu-Ovrode-Ofagbe ring road, declaring that the contract would be revoked if the contractor failed to complete the project within the first quarter of 2027.

He directed construction companies handling ongoing projects to take advantage of the dry season to accelerate work, warning that the government would not tolerate poor performance or unnecessary delays.

Oborevwori also urged the Isoko people to translate their political endorsement into votes for President Tinubu, himself and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

The reception attracted expressions of solidarity from traditional rulers and political figures, including the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, HRM Maj. Gen. Felix Mujakperuo (retd.), and the Pere of Akugbene-Mein, HRM Luke S.P. Kalanama VIII, who commended the Isoko Nation for the recognition accorded the governor and called for sustained unity.

The Odiologbo of Owhe Kingdom, HRM Romanus Inana Okpuzo, also reaffirmed the support of traditional rulers for the governor.

Former Senate Chief Whip, Senator Stella Omu, in her remarks, pledged the commitment of Isoko women to mobilising support for Tinubu, Oborevwori and other APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.

The gathering underscored the growing political engagements ahead of the 2027 elections, while also bringing renewed attention to infrastructure and electricity challenges that remain important concerns for residents of Isoko communities.
