Isoko Not Marginalized—Delta Govt Counters Allegations with 53 Projects Delivered

Commissioner for Works (Rural and Public Information), Mr. Charles Aniagwu

ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Government has debunked allegations of sidelining the Isoko Nation in recent infrastructure approvals, insisting the claims are misleading and do not reflect the equitable development approach of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.

Commissioner for Works (Rural and Public Information), Mr. Charles Aniagwu, said in a statement that the Isoko axis has significantly benefited from the government’s M.O.R.E Agenda, with no fewer than 53 strategic projects completed, ongoing, or approved across Isoko North and South local government areas.

Aniagwu listed massive interventions in road infrastructure, healthcare, and tertiary education, including key projects such as the Emevor-Ivrogbo-Orogun Road, Urueode internal roads in Ofagbe, and the Edherie-Ase and Olomoro-Igbide roads. Others include the rehabilitation of the Uzere-Asaba Ase Road, multiple internal roads in Irri, Oleh, Olomoro, Aviara, and the reconstruction of collapsed bridge approaches along Umeh Road.

He also highlighted major investments in education and health, such as the transformation of Southern Delta University, Ozoro, with new faculties, infrastructure, and staff recruitment, the establishment of a new College of Medical Sciences, the College of Health Technology in Ovrode, and upgrades at Primary Healthcare Centres across Isoko communities.

Aniagwu described the projects as “tangible evidence of balanced governance,” and urged critics to engage with facts. “The records speak for themselves. No ethnic group has been excluded. The Isoko Nation has been a key beneficiary of Governor Oborevwori’s development drive,” he said, calling for constructive dialogue and cooperation from community leaders going forward.
