OLEH/Nigeria: The Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area, Comrade Friday Ovoke Warri, has launched a six-day integrated measles vaccination campaign aimed at protecting children and adults in the region.
The campaign, which kicked off on Thursday in Oleh, the council’s headquarters, is set to run from October 12 to 18, 2024, across various health centres, schools, churches, and households within the local government area.
During the flag-off event, Warri urged mothers, caregivers, and residents of Isoko South to take advantage of the free vaccination services provided during the campaign.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining immunization cards for proper health monitoring and follow-up, especially for children.
The chairman reiterated his administration’s commitment to the health and well-being of the people, with a focus on maternal and child healthcare.
“The health and welfare of our people remain a top priority for my administration,” Warri said, adding that his government will continue to support and finance health initiatives that promote the well-being of the Isoko South population.
He expressed gratitude to medical personnel for their dedication and hard work and acknowledged the vital role played by the World Health Organization (WHO) as the primary sponsor of the campaign.
He also promised to ensure thorough monitoring and supervision of the vaccination program to guarantee its success.
The flag-off event was attended by key government officials, including the council vice chairman and local government secretary, alongside other dignitaries.
In her remarks, Mrs. Felicia Onwano, Nursing Director of Isoko South Local Government, applauded the contributions of development partners in making the 2024 integrated measles vaccination campaign a reality.
