OLEH/Nigeria: The Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area, Comrade Friday Ovoke Warri, joined Nigerians across the country on Wednesday to honour fallen heroes during the Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration and wreath-laying ceremony held in Oleh, Delta State.
Warri commended the sacrifices of the ex-servicemen who participated in peacekeeping missions in Liberia, Sierra Leone, and other West African countries. He expressed profound gratitude to the living heroes among them and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to honouring their legacy.
The council chairman pledged to strengthen partnerships with security agencies to enhance safety and security within the Isoko South area. He also congratulated the Isoko South legion chairman, Lt. Col. Napoleon Agalabri, and acknowledged the local government’s support for the legionnaires.
In his remarks, Warri highlighted the invaluable contributions of the armed forces to Nigeria’s peace, freedom, and unity, emphasizing their role in safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity.
Lt. Col. Napoleon Agalabri, the legion chairman, appreciated the council’s support and responsiveness to the welfare of ex-servicemen. He, however, appealed for the redemption of earlier pledges made to the legionnaires.
The solemn ceremony, attended by dignitaries, serving and retired military personnel, and community leaders, saw wreaths laid in honour of the fallen heroes. Among those present were the leader of the Isoko South legislative arm, a representative of the Nigerian Army, the Divisional Police Officer of Oleh, and other notable figures.
