OLEH/Nigeria: The Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, Comrade Friday Ovoke Warri, has presented a supplementary budget of N2,002,754,703.36 for the year 2024 to the legislative arm of the council for consideration and approval.

During a session presided over by the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Friday Olokor, the council chairman emphasized his commitment to running a transparent and inclusive administration. Warri highlighted his administration’s focus on infrastructural development, with priority given to education, healthcare, agricultural resuscitation, and initiatives aimed at empowering women and youth.

“We came into office just a few months ago and recognized the need for a supplementary budget to address the pressing needs in Isoko South. The executive arm deemed it essential to avoid spending beyond the allocated annual fiscal budget, as doing so would result in severe consequences. That’s why we are here today to present this supplementary budget for 2024,” Warri explained.

Upon receiving the supplementary budget, Olokor assured the chairman that the 8th Isoko South Legislative Arm would expedite its passage. He also thanked Warri and his executive team for approving the supply of new furniture for the legislative arm and pledged the councillors’ full support in advancing the administration’s agenda, aligned with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s “MORE Agenda.”

Warri was accompanied to the budget presentation by key officials, including the Vice Chairperson of Isoko South, Theresa Ikrike, Special Adviser to the Council Chairman, Hon. Chief Efe Okolosi-Ozoro, Exco Recorder, Chief Raphael Onowotu, HPM Mrs. M.I. Ofogboro, HOD Budget Mrs. B.M. Okoro, and Supervising Councillor for Agriculture, Goodluck Abedi, among others.

In a related development, Chairman Warri has urged youths in the council area to stay away from hard and illicit drugs. While receiving a courtesy visit from members of the Isoko National Youth Congress, led by President Abel Edigbe, Warri called on young people to resist peer pressure and avoid involvement in harmful drug-related activities.

“Through collective efforts, we must reject drug abuse, knowing that our united stance will shape the future of our community. It requires more than government intervention; it demands the synchronized involvement of parents, educators, healthcare professionals, community leaders, the private sector, and every one of us. Together, we can build a society free from substance abuse,” Warri stated.

He encouraged the youths to focus on positive activities that will improve their lives and the community, emphasizing the importance of personal responsibility in the fight against drug abuse.
