OLEH/Nigeria: In a heartwarming gesture to mark the Christmas season, Mrs. Abigail Warri, wife of the Chairman of Isoko South Local Government, Delta State, brought joy to 100 widows and elderly women by distributing essential items to ease their festive celebrations. The initiative aimed at spreading love and support during the yuletide season highlighted her commitment to community welfare.
Mrs. Warri presented various items, including bags of rice, noodles, cartons of tomatoes, gallons of ground nut oil, yams, and salt, among others, during a ceremony at Otobo Hall in Oleh, the local government headquarters. She noted that the effort was designed to ensure that beneficiaries could celebrate the season without challenges, fostering unity and happiness across communities in Isoko South.
The 100 beneficiaries were carefully chosen from various communities across Isoko South. The distribution event, held on Tuesday at Otobo Hall in Oleh, the administrative headquarters of Isoko South Local Government Area, was graced by the council chairman, Friday Ovoke Warri.
Speaking at the occasion, Mrs. Abigail Warri expressed her deep satisfaction in extending support to the elderly within the local communities. She explained that the initiative was organized to bring joy to the aged during the festive season, fostering a sense of togetherness and love among all participants.
Mrs. Warri also acknowledged Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, the wife of the state governor, commending her steadfast dedication to improving the lives of elderly citizens in Delta State.
She extended her heartfelt Christmas greetings to residents of the local government and beyond, urging them to embrace the season’s message of hope and unity. “I wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy, prosperous new year in Jesus’ name, amen,” she said.
