Following the renewed hostility in the region, which was said to have brought the production of crude to the barest minimum, the Commissioner representing Ughelli south, Udu, Uvwie and the Urhobo’s in Warri south L.G.A in the board of DESOPADEC, Chief Amos Itiwhe has appealed to the new Niger Delta Avengers to sheathe their sword and channel their grievances to the appropriate quarters, rather than taking to arms.
Itiwhe who was speaking during the grand finale of world Red Cross day organised by the Warri division of the world Red Cross Society, urged the new militant group and all other aggrieved persons to embrace peace for the theme of this year’s celebration “everywhere for everyone” to be actualised.
Itiwhe who also emerged as a patron and associate member of the Red Cross society, also used the occasion to appeal for dialogue and for all to be willing to help whenever the need arise. Just as he expressed gratitude to the society for the award and honour.
While Commending the Warri Chapter for the event to Commemorate the founders day, the SSA to the governor of Delta state on youths development Comr. Hope George, also condemned the activities of the vandals, urging that “if every young person can imbibe the culture of belonging to a voluntary organisation like the Red Cross there would be nothing like militancy as the focus will be to render a helping hand and save lives instead of taking lives”.
He further appealed for all to always identify with humanitarian organisations, to give a helping hand and save lives.
