Itsekiri youths pledge loyalty to Olu of Warri

Youths of Itsekiri, who have been at the vanguard of the call for reinstatement of the Ogiame title by the Olu of Warri, have lauded the monarch for bowing to the wish of his subjects, just as the palace of the monarch now wears a peaceful look, after Tuesday’s truce.

HRM Ogiame Atuwatse II had earlier renounced the respected  ancient title “Ogiame”, borne by all monarchs ahead of him, on religious reason.

Leader of the youth, Prince Omolubi Newuwumi, who has been in the front roll as regards the just-ended protest, through a statement made available to the Nigerian Tribune in Warri, praised the monarch for being a listening leader, who loves his people dearly.

Omolubi, while thanking the entire people of Itsekiri for trooping out in their large numbers to protest against the unpopular decision, said there was No Victor, No Vanquished, as the people of Itsekiri remain ever loyal to their King, Ogiame Atuwatse 11.

The statement added that protest was not against any individual or group, but a fight for the destiny of the Itsekiri nation, adding that it was one of the most peaceful protests in history just as there was no form of violence.

Omolubi called on the people to remain steadfast, loyal and obedient to the Olu as he remains their monarch, adding that the protest showed that the voice of the people will always prevail if they speak in unison.
