ASABA/Nigeria: The apex organization of the people of Anioma -Izu Anioma, in Delta State, needs to foster unity, mobilize and promote the general interest of Anioma people as enshrined in the constitution of the organization.
In a press released and signed by the Chairman Media and Publicity Committee, Comrade Aboh Uche, this decision was taken at a meeting of the interim management committee Members/Elders Forum, presided over by Dr Kingsley Ojie, held recently at its National Secretariat in Asaba.
The release stated that the meeting resolved to adhere strictly to its constitution especially article 4 where the Anioma people are the rightful owners of the Organization stressing its willingness to consult and involve the Anioma people in the running of Izu Anioma.
Consequently, the body called on the Clans/Town Unions in Aniocha, Ndokwa, Ika and Oshimili areas which acronym formed ANIO-MA to organize themselves for effective grassroot mobilization adding that their Presidents/Secretaries by the structure of the Organization are members of Congress, the highest decision making body.
The released also stated that the meeting noted with disbelief the nocturnal and clandestine moves to undermine the powers of Izu Anioma as the only APEX Organization in Anioma pointing out that the body was duly registered by Corporate Affairs Commission.
It therefore, welcomed other Organizations, whether Social, Cultural, Economic, Clubs etc in Anioma land pledging its willingness to accommodate each other function together to advance the living standard of Anioma people.
According to the press release, the meeting, while appreciating the personal sacrifice by the Interim Management Committee Members particularly those of the Elders Forum, called on Anioma people to take a leaf from other sociocultural Organizations in the country and in Delta State where collective views are made known through their Apex organizations.
The release stated that, Izu Anioma Organization meeting concluded, expects a sincere synergy and mutual understanding within Anioma people especially now that an Anioma son is the Governor of Delta State.
