ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Commissioner for Lands and Surveys, Mrs Kate Onianwa, has advised journalists in the state, to continue to work towards the actualisation of the Stronger Delta agenda of the Okowa administration.
Barr. Onianwa gave the advice in her office in Asaba when the Chairman and members of the Community Newspapers Publishers of Nigeria ((ACNPN), paid her a courtesy visit to intimate her of the choice of the association to honour her with the 2021 Woman of the year award.
Mrs Onianwa, said that she was glad to be bestowed with such award, adding that it was a rare privilege for one to be considered worthy of such recognition.
“My reason of accepting your proposal to be bestowed with the award as the 2021 woman of the year of your association was based on my personal relationship with your chairman, the relationship has been commendable, I have not seen any reason to regret my relationship with him, she stated”.
Mrs Onianwa recalled how the chairman of the association gave her the needed support when she indicated interest to contest for an election, and commended the Comrade Obiemenyego for always identifying with her, just as she prayed that God would reward him for trying to build a larger family with her and ACNPN members.
She also said that she was very optimistic that her relationship with the association would be very productive in the actualisation of stronger Delta Agenda of the Okowa led administration.
The commissioner, however, charged members of the Community Newspapers Publishers Association to always be factual and objective in their reporting to avoid chaos in the state.
Mrs Oniawa also commended the governor Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa for his sensitive nature stating that this has helped immensely in granting the needs of Deltans, she also described the governor as the Road master, humble and a peace builder.
‘‘You will not appreciate what is happening in Delta State until you go to other states, she stated.”
The commissioner also commended the wife of the Governor of Delta State, Dame Edith Okowa for her humility and simplicity, describing her as her role model.
She disclosed that she was happy to serve in Okowa’s administration, stressing that the government had helped the youths through series of programmes especially for the less privilege and the widows and prayed that God would always give him wisdom to pilot the affairs of Delta State.
