Judicial Panel Of Inquiry Debunks Report Of Unfair Hearing

WARRI/Nigeria: The Secretary of the Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Police Brutality and Extra Judicial Killings in Delta State, Mamuzo Erebe has debunked the report making rounds that the panel is denying the petitioners the right to fair hearing.

The secretary, who stated this while speaking to newsmen at the second day of sitting, assured Deltans that the reason behind the inquiry was to look into their complaints and give the petitioners a fair hearing.

The Chairman of the panel, Retired Justice Celestina Ogisi in one of the cases involving one Mr Solomon Basset versus IPO Osaro Osazemwiede, IPO Felix Ezezobor both of B -Division, Warri, ordered the accused police officers to appear before the panel on Thursday, November 26, 2020 for cross examination.

Justice Ogisi struck out two cases out of the eleven heard for not falling within the terms of the panel reference while four cases were adjourned to Thursday, November 26, 2020.

A petitioner, Chief S.O Oboro, who presented his case on the brutal murder of his nephew on August 3, 2020 in Ozoro by one Insp. Isaac Agbolahor, expressed satisfaction with the proceedings of the panel
