June 12: Buhari to Addresses Nigerians

ABUJA/Nigeria: As Nigeria formerly celebration of the long conversed June 12, as the Democracy Day, the President,  Muhammadu Buhari had chosen to address Nigeria tomorrow address the Nation in a broadcast to commemorate the day, which from that moment will be officially declared “Democracy day”

The Presidency disclosed this on Thursday in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina.

It stated that the broadcast would come up at 7am on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Radio Nigeria.

The statement enjoined media outlets in the country to hook up to both stations for the broadcast.

According to it, “To commemorate Nigeria’s Democracy Day, President Muhammadu Buhari will broadcast to the nation on Friday, June 12, 2020 at 7am.

“Television and radio stations as well as other electronic media outlets are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority and Radio Nigeria respectively for the broadcast.”

June 12 had previously been celebrated to mark the aborted June 1993 Election which was adjudged the most transparent and accepted election in Nigeria, believed to had been won by late business mogul, Alhaji MKO Abiola, who later died in an effort to reclaimed what he called his stolen mandate.
