Keyamo Lacks Political Credibility in Delta APC, Says Ivwurie

UGHELLI/Nigeria: A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Hon. (Chief) Evance Ochuko Ivwurie, has lambasted Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, over what he described as an unconstitutional power grab within the party.
In a strongly worded statement, Ivwurie criticized Keyamo for attempting to impose a “College of Leaders” as the highest decision-making body in Delta APC, an idea that was firmly rejected by former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, CFR, and the party’s grassroots leadership. He accused Keyamo of disregarding the party’s constitution and defying even the National Working Committee (NWC), which also opposed the move.
“When you formed your so-called ‘College of Leaders’ as the ultimate decision-making body for APC in Delta State, Senator Omo-Agege unequivocally and rightly rejected it on behalf of thousands of party stakeholders. Yet, you stubbornly clung to it despite having no constitutional backing,” Ivwurie stated.
He mocked Keyamo’s attempt to equate his faction to the APC’s statutory caucus, describing it as laughable. “No group of party members can arbitrarily constitute a caucus. But perhaps, since you have never won an election in your polling unit, you may not understand how these things work,” he added.
Ivwurie further questioned Keyamo’s political influence, alleging that he has never secured a single electoral victory in his unit since 1999. “Politics is beyond television appearances and photo ops. Those who contest elections with a sincere desire to win do not joke with their party’s constitution,” he said.
Addressing allegations that Omo-Agege worked against President Bola Tinubu during the elections, Ivwurie dismissed them as baseless. “After campaigning vigorously and investing heavily in the elections, you claim he told voters to support two senators but not the president? That is pure hogwash,” he stated.
He accused Keyamo of failing to campaign for APC’s success in Delta, insisting that his only involvement was appearing at Tinubu’s rally for media attention. “You insult the grassroots by claiming the man who fought day and night for the party did nothing, while you did nothing but pose for cameras. Where is your conscience?” Ivwurie concluded.
