Kidnappers of Obomkpa Road Project Contractor Demand N50m for Ransom

Asaba: The kidnappers of the Managing Director of Mica Construction Firm (name withheld) handling the Obomkpa Road Project in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State have demanded N50 million to release their captive. Inspector General of Police

Briefing the press during the inspection and commissioning of projects in Aniocha South and North by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, the Honourable Commissioner of Works, Engr. James Augoye affirmed that the kidnappers called the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works in the morning of Tuesday to make the demand.

The commissioner, who posited that efforts are being made to secure the release of the contractor, maintained that it was an unfortunate situation. He said he too was at the project site that Monday for an inspection ahead of the Governor’s visit on Tuesday, only to be informed of the kidnap 10 minutes that he left the site.

Augoye appealed that the contractor be released in order not to impede the fast moving infrastructure development in the area.
