KINGSLEY DIKE: Metaphor For Social Change and Responsive Leadership in Ndokwa Nation is Hypocrisy and Cognitive Dissonance at a Crescendo

By Ossai Ossai  Media Unit

No amount of insidious propaganda can swallow the superlative legislative footprints of the Ndokwa Representative, not today and not tomorrow!

The office of the Ndokwa Representative received the premature political campaign leaflet authored by Mr Kingsley Dike wherein he sluggishly laboured aimlessly to undermine the globally acclaimed and proven superlative legislative brilliance, high-quality responsive leadership excellence and monumental representational high impact accomplishments of the Ndokwa Representative, the Rt. Hon. (Rev.) Ossai Nicholas Ossai PhD.

Perusing through the insidious political campaign leaflet, which has been rightly characterized as a loud-sounding nothing by well-meaning commentators who truly believe in the genuine development of Ndokwa Nation; one would have thought that Mr Kingsley who brandishes as a US retired Army intelligence analyst would easily reckon that the mechanical solidarity view of the concept of social change has long been taken over by a more modern and superior worldview in the concept of social change and the dangers of tunnel visioning.

In a modern and progressive Ndokwa nation vigorously been built by the Ndokwa Representative and other exegetes of Ndokwa first philosophy, mechanical solidarity, has gradually given way to organic solidarity where a system of division of labour, interdependence, collaborations, and spirited partnerships that creates a patriotic and free spirit of solidarity for the sustainable development of Ndokwa land flourish.

For the benefit of the good people of Ndokwa nation who knows best and appreciate the unrelenting demonstrable and quality representational output of the Legislative maestro, Ndokwa Representative. We would like to put the following on records and clarify the cheap falsehood peddled by Mr Kingsley Dike.

Flood Devastation in Ndokwa Nation

Flooding, no doubt is a life-threatening global menace and of course a national disaster in Nigeria. However, no representative in Ndokwa nation has used the instrument of public office and personal leverage to tackle the issue of flooding in Ndokwa land with courage, commitment and fighting spirit the way the Ndokwa Representative has done. It is important to note that flood disaster management and control in Nigeria is a work in progress and no state in the country has been able to eliminate flooding, the same way Atlanta Georgia authorities in the US where Mr Dike resides has not been able to eliminate tornados. Hon. Ossai’s legislative interventions in flood management, control and restitution in line with his legislative jurisdictional competencies has been superlative but not without room for more. During these periods, the Ndokwa Representative have implemented the following mechanism for control, management and restitution of flood victims.

He has always leveraged the flood alert position of the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA) to educate constituents on flood warnings issued by the government through the Ndokwa Representative Community liaison officers.

Motions: To tackle the issue of flooding in terms of control, management and restitution, the Ndokwa Representative has deployed his legislative brilliance and finest lobbying skills to move the following motions, which were unanimously adopted by the Nigerian National Assembly. Some of the motions include:

Motion on Flood Devastation of over 20 Communities in Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency Delta State (See: https://web.facebook.com/HonOssaiNicholasOssai/posts/memoriesof2019qualityrepresentationone-of-the-key-legislative-instrument-availab/2490530221218100/?_rdc=1&_rdr)

Floods Devastation: Rep Hon Ossai Ossai raises alarm over destruction of 150 houses in Delta State, Nigeria (see: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2020/10/floods-rep-raises-alarm-over-destruction-of-150-houses-in-delta-2/)

Need for the Federal Government to Tackle the Perennial Flooding in the Niger Delta Communities: Motion by Hon. Ossai Nicholas Ossai: (See: https://placng.org/i/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/MOTIONS-ON-NOTICE-MONDAY-6-NOVEMBER-2017.pdf) On the account of Ossai’s bold move, the House of Reps to (i) Urge the Federal Government to dredge major rivers in the Niger Delta Region and their tributaries to ensure free flow of water into the ocean to reduce flooding; (ii) Also urge the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide succour to the victims in the following communities: a) In Delta State, Onyia, Okpai, Aballa-Oshimili, Ase, Asaba-Ase, Ibrede, Ossissa in Ndokwa East Local Government Area, Ebedei Unor, Eziokpor in Ukwuani Local Government Area; (iii) Mandate the Committees on Environment and Habitat and Disaster and Emergency Preparedness to ensure implementation and report back in six (6) weeks for further legislative action.

Flood disaster is a wake-up call for Nigeria – D.G. NOTAP … This followed a motion moved by a lawmaker, Honorable Ossai ossai, who said the incident was a matter of urgent national importance as he sends SOS on behalf of Ndokwa/Ukwunai Federal Constituency to the presidency, Federal Government of Nigeria, and other relevant authorities (see: https://www.channelstv.com/tag/house-of-representatives/page/56/)

The Ndokwa representative has not just been effectively utilizing legislative instruments available to him in terms of motions, he has also taken further states to engage agencies of government including but not limited to the Ecological Fund Office of the Presidency, and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in tackling the issue of flooding. The fruits of these legislative lobbying and strategic engagement has brought enormous restitution and succour to Ndokwa people who have praised Hon. Ossai Ossai for his committed quality representation and sincere responsive leadership. Some of these restitution efforts include:

Distribution of Relief Materials to thousands of families and households in Ndokwa Nation under the Hon Ossai Ossai rebuild, restore and recover initiatives, which aimed to provide succor and indeed provided huge relief and support to flood victims in Ndokwa nation. (See: https://www.nairaland.com/6403684/hon-ossai-nicholas-ossai-distributes). The high impact of Hon. Ossai’s interventions in this regard has been traditional and effective even as stakeholders continue to search and mobilize resources to eradicate cases of threatening flood disaster in Ndokwa nation and across the country. More so, Hon. Ossai took it upon himself to sponsor the Social Corporate Responsibility Bill to provide the much needed legal framework that compels multinational companies operating in the Niger Delta to standardize their corporate social responsibility efforts, he scrutinized the IOCs community development agreements with host communities to ensure that the God-given resources of Ndokwa people, benefits Ndokwa nation optimally.

There is no doubt that the Ndokwa Representative has skillfully led from the front in mobilizing manpower, resources, support, succour and in raising his strong voice through the media to tackle the issue of flooding in Ndokwa nation. Mr Kingsley Dike misfired because the political leaflet was never intended for Ndokwa development but rather the familiar insidious vendetta against Ndokwa’s finest political leader with proven results.

On security and insecurity, the Ndokwa Representative has intervened superlatively within the limit of his legislative competence and through collaborative efforts. Outside the several brilliant legislative motions, he moved in the floor of the Nigerian House of Reps which led to the deployment of more security personnel, patrol teams, checkpoints and intelligence gathering around Ndokwa land and environs. More recently, the Ndokwa Representative called an assembly of the Ndokwa Nation Stakeholders meeting where his outshining idea on the immediate establishment of the Ndokwa Nation Security Trust fund was adopted by the Assembly to help equip and set up local security architecture and infrastructure for the local and community policing of Ndokwa nation. Some of the motions moved by the legislative maestro to address the issue of insecurity through his office are:

Brutal Killing of ten indigenes of Ogume Community by unknown Herdsmen in Delta State by Hon Ossai Ossai (See: https://www.thenigerianvoice.com/news/111948/stop-killings-of-farmers-by-herdsmen-house-tells-igp.html).

Need to Dislodge Nomadic Herdsmen from Further Attacks on Ossissa Community of Delta State (2nd November 2016).

Urgent Need for Intervention in the Gruesome and Brutal Killings in the Recurring Crisis between Amai and Eziokpor Communities of Delta State.

Urgent Need to Intervene in the Beheading, Brutal Killings and Recent Invasion By Suspected Herdsmen in Ossissa Community of Delta State.

Urgent Need to intervene in the Recurring Bloody Communal Crisis of over Forty Years between Umuebu and Amai Communities of Delta State and many others, simply too numerous to mention in one piece of communication – (See: https://web.facebook.com/HonOssaiNicholasOssai/posts/2042255876045539?_rdc=1&_rdr).

On the Distribution of Hospital Equipment and Books to Library for schools in Ndokwa nation, Mr Dike was obviously in search of lost logic to falsely accuse the Ndokwa Representative of staying in Nigeria and fracturing a welfare driven Atlanta Chapter of the Ndokwa Association in America project from Nigeria. The Question to ask is simple. Is Hon. Ossai Ossai in the leadership of that association? Does Ossai Ossai have a vote in the proceedings or the decision-making structure of the association? How can the Ndokwa representative possibly fracture an association of mature Ndokwa minds in faraway Atlanta from Nigeria? The truth is that such allegations can only find comfort in the place of cognitive dissonance entities. The Ndokwa representative values the contributions of the Ndokwa Diaspora community, especially individuals and groups who have genuinely contributed and have continued to contribute towards the development of Ndokwa nation. The Ndokwa Representative will continue to value and work closely with the Diaspora community at all levels but will regrettably not allow anybody no matter how highly placed and indeed no matter how he may have licked his fingers from a costly Atlanta delicacy, play politics or propaganda with the bright future of Ndokwa nation which he has continued to work hard to bequeath to the next generation.

The hospital equipment, he partnered with the Ndokwa Atlanta Community to attract received effective, efficient and equitable distribution to the admiration of all constituency members back in 2013. Both the hospitals and the individual beneficiaries are still alive and well. The distribution was a well-attended public programme in the Constituency and environs. What Mr Dike wishes to achieve through his mischievous political leaflet is well known by all lovers of truth. When has it become a crime for a representative of the people to throw his doors open for good ideas, attract partnerships and collaborations that will progress and development to his people? The strongly representative strongly believes that organic solidarity, spirit of togetherness and forthrightness is critical to social reengineering of Ndokwa nation as a complementarity to his proven responsive representation.

The robust partnership and collaboration for the distribution of leisure literature books to schools in Ndokwa nation was a highly celebrated programme attended by both parties with joy, fulfilment and admiration. The insistence for the right thing to be done, the right way is the hallmark of a responsive and committed leader, which the Ndokwa Representative has continued to demonstrate in all his engagement. The following schools participated and benefited from the book distribution efforts in 2018:

The superlative legislative footprints of the Ndokwa Representative in the areas of infrastructure, schools remodelling, construction and rehabilitation of blocks of classrooms with modern facilities across the constituency to improve the condition of learning and school enrolment for Ndokwa children has been greatly praised. Today, as a result of the legislative intervention of the Ndokwa Representative in deploying brand new ICT centres with inverter and functional computers, Ndokwa children now look at the future with the hope of being able to compete globally. In the areas of Human capital development and empowerment of youths, households, farmers, traders, artisans and women, the Ndokwa representative has been rated as one of the best for the numerous well targeted capacity building with starter-packs and skill acquisition programmes that he has continued to pilot. Just recently, the Ndokwa representative secured a Covid-19 credit facility to over 700 Ndokwa farmers and traders to the tune of N1.2m each thereby attracting nearly N1billion directly into the hands of constituency members to bolster the local economy of Ndokwa nation. This degree of social investment intervention has never been done before and will continue to resonate for generations.

We will not commit to responding to some of the more petty mischief raised by Mr Dike in his political leaflet except to put on record that Hon. Ossai Ossai is not only a high flying, high impact representative of the people but also an Ordained Minister in the temple of God, humble, humane, visionary and committed leader who is only in politics for the genuine service of the people and has shown through his positive actions, consistency and spirited landmark legislative interventions that he is a grass root man and man of the people.

Those who may wish to bootcamp with Mr Dike or contemplate his cheap falsehood should remember that one with God and the people are a majority. We should support our political leaders to lead well and engage them in constructive criticism instead of a manufactured and disjointed tale of lies just to seek relevance and short-time publicity. The education and exposure one has received must be for productivity and development and not for clinical insidious propaganda.
