WARRI/Nigeria: The Executive Director, Finance and Administration on the board of the Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Chief John Nani has been commended by the people of Idjerhe Kingdom in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State for his immerse contributions towards the socio-economic, political and infrastructural development of the Kingdom.
The commendation was giving during a thank you visit to the EDFA by a delegation of the kingdom led by Chief Johnson Kogoro. Speaking on behalf of the team, the spokesman, Chief Austine Omonode stated that the chiefs in council and particularly the people of idjerhe kingdom have noted the worthy of their son whom he described as an excellent achiever and lover of grassroot development.
“We are here today on the instruction of our people which we represent at the Oguedion-In-Council to thank you specially for demonstrating an unimaginable capacity to address various infrastructural challenges in the kingdom.” He added that the kingdom is pleased with Hon. Nani for living up to his title as the Aghwemutuwheyi meaning one who always sees something good and brings it home for his people to feel the impact.
Chief Omonode who is the President General of Idjerhe Clan Development Union (ICDU) added that “the council felt its very important to applaud your undying commitments towards improving infrastructural decay in the kingdom by the many life impacting projects that you’ve facilitated to engendered prosperity to our dear people, particularly the recent clearing of heavily silted drains and rehabilitation of failed roads which had caused our people needless pains in the past.” He added that the timely intervention of the EDFA has drastically reduced the flooding and the fear of commuters on the road.
He expressed profound gratitude to His Excellency, Gov. Okowa, the Managing Director, Executive Directors and Management of DESOPADEC for their maximum support to their son and for their commitments to the aggressive and even development of the oil bearing communities in the state.
In his remark, Hon. Nani stated that, he did not vigorously pursue grassroot development because he was expecting a thank you visit like this or any commendation for anybody, but that he was only trying to ensure that his people tell a different positive story of development. He said, he has always insisted that his role in government is vicarious and that the people are the major beneficiary. He stated that he will continue do his very best to evenly develop the kingdom according to available opportunities and capacity.
“What I have been able to attract to the kingdom has been made possible by the support of the Governor and my colleagues that I have worked with in all the positions that I have been privilege to hold in government and whatever that we will achieve in the nearest future will also depend on the support of Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa and my colleagues in the board of DESOPADEC. so, ensure you pray ceaselessly for this team to succeeded because we are here to manage a percentage of your revenue contributions as an oil bearing community.”
While thanking the people for their support so far and urging them to continue to support him in achieving his developmental visions for Idjerhe Kingdom, he hinted that the management of DESOPADEC has approved the rehabilitation of the road from the roundabout to college road and that the contractor will soon mobilise to site.
