Lamorde Immortalized in Edo State with Ultra-Modern Auditorium

OGBONA/Nigeria: The late former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Lamorde, has been honored with a newly constructed ultra-modern auditorium and outdoor sports center at Ogbona Secondary School, Etsako Central Local Government Area, Edo State. The facility, named Ibrahim Lamorde Hall, was built by Inter-Atlas Synergy Limited, a pipelines security firm Lamorde chaired until his passing on May 25, 2024.

The project was spearheaded by Mr. Peter Omoh Dunia, a director at Inter-Atlas Synergy and a native of Ogbona community. Dunia, affectionately known as Peter Black, facilitated the construction as a tribute to Lamorde’s legacy. The grand unveiling of the facility was attended by prominent figures, including representatives of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, Deputy Governor Omobayo Godwins, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs Engineer Abubakar Momoh, and NNPC Limited’s Group CEO Engineer Mele Kyari.

In his goodwill message, Edo State Deputy Governor Omobayo Godwins praised Inter-Atlas Synergy for its commitment to community development and urged other corporate entities to follow their example. Similarly, the Chairperson of Ogbona Secondary School Management Board, Mrs. Joan Egwuonwu, lauded the firm’s efforts, noting the significance of the auditorium and sports center.

Traditional leaders, including HRM Jackson Aperelire Etokhana, Ogie Ahwianwu of Avhianwu Clan, expressed their gratitude and commended Dunia for his public-spirited contributions. “Peter Dunia is a valuable and selfless personality who has made unparalleled contributions to the upliftment of Avhianwu Clan, Etsakoland, and their people,” Etokhana said.

Chief Style Tamaranebi, National President of the Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas (HOSCON), highlighted the importance of corporate social responsibility, urging oil and gas companies to emulate Inter-Atlas Synergy’s dedication to community development. “Today, Inter-Atlas Synergy Limited has displayed commitment in CSR to our communities. We thank you for keeping your promises,” Tamaranebi said.

Dr. Suleiman Lamorde, the spokesman for the Lamorde family, expressed profound appreciation to Inter-Atlas Synergy for immortalizing his brother. “This gesture is heartwarming and reinforces the unity of our nation. We are grateful to Inter-Atlas Synergy and especially to Peter Dunia for their unwavering support,” he said.

In his speech, Inter-Atlas Synergy’s Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Femi Meshe, emphasized the company’s dedication to improving the quality of life in host communities. “The Ogbona Secondary School Ultra-modern Auditorium and Sports Facilities, named after our late Chairman, will enhance educational and civic activities in the community. We hope this project inspires other organizations to contribute to community development,” Meshe said.

Mr. Peter Omoh Dunia, moved to tears, paid tribute to Lamorde, describing him as a dedicated and compassionate leader. “Lamorde was a champion of communities, always prioritizing their welfare. The Ogbona Secondary School project is a testament to his legacy and commitment to community development,” Dunia said.

The event concluded with cultural displays and the formal inauguration of the auditorium and sports center by Archbishop Gabriel Dunia and the representative of the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Engineer Okodugha Dauda Aluyah.
