IBUSSA/Nigeria: At the the second convocation ceremony of Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN) in Ibusa, President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori highlighted the pivotal role of higher learning institutions in grooming graduates to actively contribute to nation-building efforts.

President Tinubu, represented by Mrs. Stella Ugochukwu from the Federal Ministry of Education, lauded ADUN for maintaining an uninterrupted academic calendar and emphasized the imperative for universities to cultivate leaders poised to make substantial contributions to the nation. “This administration is committed to the welfare of teaching and non-teaching staff,” he affirmed, pledging ongoing dedication to fostering quality education among the youth.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, whose presence was marked by his Deputy Sir Monday Onyeme, underscored the paramount importance of human capital development in higher education. “Artificial Intelligence may dominate the global landscape, but its sustained relevance revolves around human capital, particularly individuals exposed to technologically centered learning,” he remarked. The Governor commended ADUN for addressing human capital development, aligning with his administration’s educational priorities crucial for both individual growth and national progress.

Congratulating the graduates, Governor Oborevwori urged them to embrace innovative thinking, highlighting the dominance of Information and Communication Technology in today’s world. “As alumni of this esteemed institution, venture forth and make significant contributions, ensuring the continued recognition and reverence of this institution nationally and internationally,” he urged.

Prof. Paul Omaji, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, affirmed ADUN’s commitment to integrity and hard work, stating that graduates are equipped to confront societal challenges. Additionally, Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, contributed to the event, which concluded with the symbolic planting of trees to commemorate the occasion.

The convocation served as a platform for prominent leaders to advocate for the pivotal role of higher education in nurturing graduates who will serve as pillars of national development, with ADUN showcasing its commitment to this cause.
