Leadership Laurels for Kano as Yusuf, Kwankwaso Honoured

KADUNA/Nigeria: Kano State’s rising profile in Nigeria’s political and humanitarian landscape has once again taken center stage as Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso are set to be honoured at the 10th Annual Lecture and Awards Ceremony organized by Authentic News Daily, a Kaduna-based publication.
In a statement released Thursday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the iconic Arewa House in Kaduna. The ceremony will also host Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who will receive the “Authentic Woman of the Year” award.
Governor Yusuf will be conferred with the “Authentic Humanitarian Governor of the Year 2024” award, in recognition of his transformative leadership, unwavering commitment to social justice, and wide-reaching grassroots development projects that continue to touch lives across Kano State.
Senator Kwankwaso, national leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and a former governor of Kano, will receive the “Authentic Politician of the Year 2024” award. He is celebrated for his enduring legacy of mentorship, service, and reform-driven politics that have reshaped Nigeria’s democratic narrative.
This year’s event, themed “Religion as a Tool for Peace and National Unity,” will feature a keynote address by former Chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Yusuf Buratai (Rtd). A diverse panel of speakers drawn from religious and government institutions will include Rev. Joseph John Hayab of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Sheikh Halliru Abdullahi Maraya of the Global Peace Foundation, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.
According to the awards committee, both Governor Yusuf and Senator Kwankwaso were selected after a “rigorous evaluation of their national impact, integrity, and dedication to public good.” The committee noted that the two Kano leaders exemplify purpose-driven governance and continue to set high standards in public service.
Their recognition not only reinforces Kano’s strategic influence in national discourse but also highlights the enduring value of leadership rooted in compassion, inclusion, and vision.
