ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has been commended for releasing two months’ salary to local government workers at this month of December.
The chairman of Local government Commission, Comrade Dr Olumami Oyibo made the commendation during the maiden end of year praise and prayers service by the commission in Asaba.
He lauded the entire Staff of the unified local government for their co-operation during these three years in the affairs of the commission.
The chairman of the programme planning committee, Bishop Onyekachukwu Fidelis Agbabi who read the Bible book of Psalm 89 Verse 15 to 22, noted that it was God’s help that has enabled the chairman and the commission members to lead the entire workforce of the twenty five local government workers during the trying period of the year.
Bishop Agbabi said that depending on the help of God will make the local government service to regain its past glory.
He prayed for President Muhammadu Buhari, for releasing Paris Club fund for the governors to Cushing the sufferings of the local government workers.
The highlight of the occasion was testimonies by the commission chairman, Olumami Oyibo, presentation of souvenir to the chairman by the secretary to the commission.
