Chief (Lion) Mondey Onyeme, The New District Governor of International Associations of Lion Club, District 404A1
ASABA/Nigeria: As part of its annual activities starting from July 2018 to June 2019, the International Association of Lions Clubs, District 404A1, will be engaged in activities that will add value to the lives of the less privileges within her area of operation as they are poised to embark on several live changing programmes.
Members of International Associations of Lions Club, District 404A1 Stating this on Thursday, August 9, 2018, the New District Governor, Lion Monday Onyeme, who incidentally is the Chairman of the Delta Board of Internal Revenue, DBIR, in his maiden press interaction with journalists in Asaba, said as part of the policy of the association, human touching programmes had been planned for the year.
Lion Onyeme stated that the association intend to carry out the construction of 75 public conveniences with the period under review to improve the health and sanitary conditions of the people, stating that lack and absence of public conveniences in public places like the motor parks had been a problem, as it’s a necessity to provide such at strategic places in the country.
“Public conveniences are vital needs of our people as they move from places to place, but this had been lacking, and this is not good. Places like motor parks need to have these conveniences, and we had programmed to construct these conveniences within our District in the next one year.” He said.
Speaking further, Onyeme, said other projects and programmes for implementation within the period, are to carryout cornea transplant of 100 Nigerians, at a cost of N800,000.00, cataract surgery for 500 persons, and the distribution of 48,000 books to 40 schools, under its Reader Action Program, to both primary and secondary schools, and to plant a minimum of 2000 trees, to fight desertification.
The new District Governor, stated that this is in line with the tradition of the association, of touching lives, by providing the necessary assistance that they can render for humanity to live a better live.
While stating the theme for the year, which is “Empowerment through service”, he said the association will be engaged in employment of youths, through quality training, which will impact in them the needed skills.
Lion Onyeme however, stated that the success of these projects depends of funding, as the association had earmarked N300 million for the year, and they are calling on good spirited individuals to come forward with their donations.
The new District Governor whom, his activities started since 1st July 2018, will formally be inaugurated on August 11, 2018, with formal donation by the public towards achieving the various programmes for the year.
The District 404A1 comprises Delta, Ondo, Ekiti, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and part of Lagos states.
