Live Your life On God’s Standard, Obiosa

ASABA/Nigeria: The 2019 Diocesan Womens Conference of Ndokwa, Anglican Communion has ended with a call on Christians to live their lives based on God’s standard as enshrined in his infallible word which is the only source of sound doctrine.

Addressing the conference, the President of the Mothers Union and Women Guild, Mrs Joy Obiosa noted that like Jesus, Christian teachers and preachers should teach what is correct and in accordance with the word of God even as she added that the importance of sound doctrine cannot be overemphasized.

She warned against preaching man or self as only the truth from God’s Word can set man free from the bondage of sin; teachers/preachers must at all times distinguish the truth from falsehood, she stated.

Righteous living and upholding sound doctrine were stressed all through the conference which was hosted by St Thomas Anglican Church, Umutu; the Mother as the Union President also noted that “the believers life is the first Bible that unbelievers read before ever coming to church to hear the word of God and as such Christians should live exemplary lives; holy and acceptable unto God”

On the role of women in the growth of the church, the conference calls on Ndokwa Diocese to recognise the place of women in the church which starts from their respective homes.” Women must be born again, be committed to preaching the word of God, be hospitable and live godly lifestyles that will draw people to God and to the church. The President added.

” Christian women should shun gossiping and backbiting, nosing into peoples affairs, lying and fighting, and conduct themselves properly in and outside the home in order to serve as role models to their children”, she added.

The conference further enjoined fathers and the youths to live responsibly, be hardworking and avoid following the crowd in todays world.

The conference also congratulated some Christians that won election in the concluded general elections into various offices across the country; Dr Ifeanyi Okowa (Governor, Delta State), Oyesome Wike (Governor, River State), Emeke Ihedioha (Governor, Imo state), Darius Ishiaku (Governor, Taraba State), Seyi Makinde (Governor, Oyo State), Dapo Abiodun (Governor, Ogun State) and Babajide Sanwo-Olo (Governor, Lagos State).

Others are; Rt. Hon. Ochor C. Ochor (Deputy Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly), Hon. Charles Emetulu (Member, Delta State House of Assembly), Hon. Friday Osanebi (Member, Delta State House of Assembly) and Hon. Ossai Nicholas Ossai (House of Rep).

The conference reserved special appreciation to the Delta State Government for their support to the diocese, especially for the construction of the road to the Bishops Court in Obiaruku.

Earlier, Rt. Revd David Obiosa, the Bishop of Ndokwa Diocese congratulated the participants of the conference and also emphasized on the theme of the gathering, teach what accords with sound doctrine: show yourself a model which was drawn from Titus 2:1,7.
