OBIARUKU/Nigeria: The Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion in Obiaruku, Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State, in order to cushion the effect of the Coronavirus pandemic lockdown in the state have harvested the entire fish in their ponds to donate to widows, the elderly and other less privilege within the local government.
The gesture which was as a result from the directives of the Bishop of Diocese of Ndokwa, Rt. Revd. D.F.A. Obiosa, of Cathedral Church of Christ Obiaruku Harvested all the fishes from their pond, and distributed to the aged women especially the needy and widows.
The Vicar In-Charge Ven. Frank C. Emeni said it is a tough Moment for the people especially the aged individuals in the society, and support the plea from the state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for good spirited individuals and organisations to assist those who are not strong financially, it became necessary to empty the ponds, especially with extension of the lockdown to enable them curtail the spread of the pandemic virus.
He pleaded with everyone, that as Christians we must imbibe in the spirit of assisting the needy in our communities, as we must not wait to be a millionaire before we start giving.
“Giving from the little you have will go a long way to cushion the harsh effect of the lockdown on affected individuals.” He said.
He prayed for God to continue to provide for the Diocese to continue to give out in this Moment like the situation in the world is now facing.
Furthermore he said the welfare of the people should be our utmost Priority, urging members to continue to be prayerful at all Moment, and optimistic that God will put to stop the deadly virus killing the masses, as He failed and he will not fail his Children…
