LAGOS/Nigeria: The Loveworld Medical Centre (LMC) is set to reduce the need for Nigerians to seek medical treatment abroad through its advanced nuclear medicine offerings.
Speaking at the International Loveworld Medical Symposium on Radionuclide Therapy and Oncology in Lagos, Dr. Anthony Oseghale, Chief Operating Officer of LMC, highlighted the centre’s capabilities. “Whatever it is you are going to get outside this country, you can get it here. Maybe your flight ticket could just handle all your costs,” he noted, emphasizing the financial burden of seeking medical care abroad.
Oseghale elaborated on the centre’s commitment to quality service and the introduction of nuclear medicine. “Today, we are excited to introduce nuclear medicine, opening new opportunities for advanced medical care. The installation and commissioning of our Gamma Camera marks a significant milestone, and we eagerly anticipate the benefits this technology will bring to our patients,” he said.
He also spoke about the centre’s mission to transform healthcare in Nigeria and globally. “LMC’s mission is to lead the healthcare industry with holistic, accessible, and best-in-class services by delivering exceptional, compassionate care through innovation and technology,” he stated.
Dr. Emeka Eze, Clinical Director at LMC, described nuclear medicine as a revolutionary technology that is cost-effective and minimizes side effects. “It targets only damaged cells. If we are treating people with chemotherapy, you know the kind of side effects because it attacks all fast-growing cells. But this one only goes for cells that are inflamed or mitotic,” he explained.
Eze emphasized the effectiveness of nuclear medicine in treating various conditions, including thyroid disease, cancers, and arthritis. “Right now, it has been very well tried with prostate cancer and it’s very, very good. It treats arthritis, knee problems, and is a game changer for arthritis,” he added.
Dr. Deola Phillips, Executive Chairman of LMC, highlighted the visionary foundation of the centre, inspired by Rev. Chris Oyakhilome, President of Loveworld Inc. Phillips emphasized the centre’s strides in radionuclide therapy, stating, “The cutting-edge treatment modality harnesses the power of radioactive isotopes to target and destroy cancerous or diseased cells with unprecedented precision.”
Phillips assured the community of LMC’s ongoing commitment to innovation and comprehensive care. “From state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging to personalized treatment plans across multiple specialties, we strive to tailor each patient’s journey to their unique medical needs,” she said. “We ensure that our community receives comprehensive and compassionate care close to home, in line with our mantra – ‘Advanced, Trusted, Wholesome, Care’.”
