SAPELE/Nigeria: A young man, named Gift Ofuje has been shot dead on Monday night near Eko Amukpe in Sapele Delta State.
Ofuje was found dead lying on the ground from gunshot wounds near a white-coloured vehicle he was said to be cruising in.
A source at the Sapele Police Station, who craved anonymity, said the 27-year-old’s death was the result of a targeted hit they described as “a gang-style shooting.”
He was reported to have been shot in the head around 8.40 p.m. on Tuesday night.
The police source said that Ofuje’s death was a result of Yahoo business gone wrong.
“Gift was not the owner of the car, the owner of the vehicle sent the late Gift to drop a friend at Midwifery Road, and he was reversing the car when gunmen attacked and shot him dead,” the source said.
All attempts to speak to the Delta State Police Command spokesman, Bright Edafe was not successful as his lines were not reachable.
