WARRI/Nigeria: An indigene of Benin and retiree of Delta Steel Company (D.S.C) Ovwian-Aladja, William Obano has alleged that his wife Philomena, a teacher with Delta State civil service was attacked with stroke by a member of her family out of envy for authoring a book on physical and health education that sold like a hot cake in schools in Delta and Edo states.
Obano who spoke to the press on the ailment of his wife in Warri at the weekend lamented that the ailment has caused his family fortunes and that his wife has been taken to both hospitals, trado-medical homes and even churches for treatment to no avail, saying that he was duped to the tune of over N200, 000 by a born prophet who has a church in Okpe Local Government Area.
He stated that all the trado-medical homes and churches he took his wife to for treatment confirmed that the attack was from his wife family just as he disclosed that he reported the matter to the palace of the Oba of Benin where he was advised to refer it to the palace of the traditional ruler in Esan land where his wife hails from. Allegedly further that nothing came out of his visit to the said palace of a traditional ruler as he said that he was not attended to because of the absence of the traditional ruler who some persons said prevented him from seeing the said traditional ruler.
Obano alleged again that his family particularly one of his sons was also under siege by some members of his wife family.
He then appealed to government and public spirited Nigerians to come to his aid as he does not want to lose his wife “Ever since the ailment I have spent a lot of monies and also duped in the process of looking for a cure to the ailment of my wife who was the bread winner before the attack because I am a retiree from D.S.C and I have not been paid pension for over 12 years.
“I have been living by the grace of friends and neighbours. I also go to market myself to do shopping for my household because my wife can’t stand on her own”
All efforts to reach his brother in-law to react to these allegations proved abortive.
