Okpanam/Delta State: Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Okpanam/Ugbolu Ward 9, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr. Onyemali John Ogochukwu, has described the party’s presidential primary election in the ward as a resounding success, saying the peaceful conduct and impressive turnout reflected the unity and increasing grassroots acceptance of the party.
Speaking shortly after the exercise, Onyemali said the primary election was conducted in a transparent and orderly manner, with party members actively participating throughout the process. He noted that the exercise further demonstrated the confidence and loyalty party faithful continue to have in the APC leadership at both state and national levels.
“By the special grace of God, everything went orderly according to specifications. The process was peaceful, transparent and properly supervised. INEC officials and the returning officer were present to witness the exercise, and the turnout was massive,” the ward chairman stated.
He expressed satisfaction with the level of participation by members, stressing that the election showcased the unity and cohesion existing within the party structure in Okpanam/Ugbolu Ward 9 and reaffirmed the readiness of members to support the APC ahead of future electoral contests.
The primary election ended in a sweeping victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who polled all 4,470 valid votes cast. Declaring the result, Returning Officer, Hon. Henry Olowo, disclosed that 4,472 voters were accredited for the exercise, while only two accredited voters did not return to complete the process. President Tinubu defeated fellow APC contestant, Mr. Stanley Usifo, who scored no vote.
Also speaking, Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Community Development, Ogbueshi Hon. Chibueze Aniemeke, commended the inclusiveness and fairness of the process, while noting that the administration of Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, had continued to positively impact communities through sustained development efforts.
The exercise equally drew commendations from Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Development, Hon. Kelvin Onyeaju George, and Senior Special Assistant on Political Affairs, Ogbueshi Innocent Uchibuolu, who both praised the transparent conduct of the election and the large turnout recorded during the exercise.
