ASABA/Nigeria: A middle-aged man, Amadasun Victor, has been arrested in Delta State for attempting to purchase an AK-47 rifle to secure the leadership of the notorious secret cult group, the Vikings.

This was revealed by the Delta State Police Command through its spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe.

According to SP Edafe, Amadasun was apprehended while negotiating the purchase of the firearm. The arrest took place in a hotel in the Sapele area, where he was discussing the illegal deal.

Amadasun, who claims to operate a car wash business, confessed to the crime during police questioning. He admitted that the weapon was meant to help him attain the leadership of the Vikings confraternity, a feared cult group. The requirement for assuming the number one position in the cult was to own an AK-47 rifle.

In a statement shared with this news outlet, SP Edafe provided further insight into the suspect’s criminal activities.

“It starts with bad friends, then they migrate to internet fraud, cultism, acquiring arms, and when ‘yahoo’ stops paying, they turn to kidnapping and armed robbery,” he said.

Amadasun had reportedly agreed to pay ₦1,300,000 for the rifle before his arrest. The police assured the public that they are intensifying efforts to tackle the growing menace of cultism and illegal arms in the state.

Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to uncover further details of the case.
