Midwestern, Platform, 3 Other Oil and Gas Coy Boost Covid-19 Fight in Delta

ASABA/Nigeria: With the continuous spread of the Novel Coronavirus Disease, some indigenous companies operating in Delta state had boosted the efforts of the government to curtail the spread of the virus in the state with the donation of vehicle, food and medical items worth N37.5 Million.

The companies which are made up of operators of  OML 56 namely, Midwestern Oil and Gas Company Limited, Pillar Oil Limited, Platform Petroleum Limited, Energia Limited and Chorus Energy Limited.

According the representatives of the five Oil and Gas companies, the donations were part of their Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR.

Speaking on behalf of the companies, the Head Community Affairs Midwestern Oil and Gas Company Limited, Mr. WIlliams Eboh, stated that the package was part of the firms’ commitment to help the host state to achieve disease control and stern the spread of the coronavirus among the people.

He stated that the reason for providing vehicle as part of the items was to first ensure mobility of medical personnel, while the food was to encourage the people of the state to observe the stay -at-home order to avoid flouting it in the search of food.

“The first thing is to provide mobility for medical personnel, the second is to provide food items to encourage the citizenry to observe the stay-at-home order which they could flout in their search for food.”

The donations were received by representatives of the state government made of office of the Chairman of Delta State Health Management Board.

The State Commissioner Bureau of Special Duties Honorable Mofe Pirah, who represented Governor Ifeanyi Okowa at the occasion at the Central Hospital Asaba and Ibusa.

The items donated were food items, which includes 50kg bags of rice (270), cartons of noodles (270), cartons of sachet tin tomatoes (180), cartons of Honeywell (2,000) combo family pack, 100kg bags of beans (113), cartons of groundnut oil (135), and a Nissan Pickup.

However Midwestern Oil and Gas Limited provided surgical gloves (2,500 pairs) and protective masks (1,250 pieces).

The other companies were represented by the Manager, Community Affairs & Government Relationship Pillar Oil, Chief Humphrey Oseji, Christopher Ogala of Chorus Energy, Emmanuel Ebie of Energia Limited and the Base Office Manager, Platform/Newcross, Mr. Godwin Alumona.
