ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Community and Social Development, Mrs Flora Alatan, has reiterated the need for women in the state to be empowered especially amidst the inflated economy.
The commissioner made this statement in her office while receiving members of a non-governmental organization (NGO) called The Famous Better Life International Initiative, who paid her an advocacy visit.
Alatan expressed joy with the similarities of the NGO’s mandate with those of her ministry, especially in empowering vulnerable women in society, the girl child through skill acquisition, developmental programmes, financial establishment and so forth.
She assured the NGO of her Ministry’s support in reaching out to the aforementioned women in the grassroots and admonished them not to relent, saying that an empowered woman results to an empowered nation.
The President of the NGO Mrs. Edith Famous appreciated the Commissioner for granting them audience and explained they had come not just to seek partnership but to also acquaint themselves with the Ministry.
Mrs. Famous who highlighted the objectives of her NGO pointed out that they had a well constituted Board and standard office on ground and pleaded for partnership so as to enable them reach out to more vulnerable people effectively within the state.
