AGBOR/Nigeria: The Obi of Owa kingdom and Chairman of Delta State Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Majesty (Dr) Emmanuel Efeizomor, has charged Journalists in Ika nation to uphold the ethics of their profession.
The monarch, who gave the charge during a chat with news men at his palace in Owa-Oyibo, stated that journalists were not usually rich but very influential and powerful, saying they were empowered with powerful instruments noting that what they do with such power determined their lot.
Continuing, he stressed that as moulders of public opinion, integrity should be the watch word of every journalist.
“Develop yourself by cultivating a scholarly habit. You must develop you language and style, “he said.
While saying the media remained very crucial in shaping the society, he observed that a single journalist who knew his onions was stronger than 10 generals in the military.
The Royal father, who is a veteran journalist, harped on the need for unity among practitioners.
In their separate remarks, the trio of Dr Maxwell Momah, Joe Onyibe and Obi Chiejele commended the Obi of Owa for his advice, describing him as a father and touch bearer, adding that the royal advise would help them in the course of their job.
