ADONTE/Nigeria: The traditional ruler of Adonte Kingdom, Obi Emmanuel Okonkwo, has made a passionate appeal to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to urgently renovate Aniga Primary School, Adonte, to provide pupils with a safe and conducive learning environment.
Obi Okonkwo, who spoke with journalists at his palace in Adonte, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, lamented the dilapidated condition of the school. He revealed that the roof of the building was destroyed by a rainstorm several years ago, leaving the facility in a state unfit for teaching and learning.
“If urgent attention is not given to Aniga Primary School, our children will continue to suffer without a convenient place to study,” the royal father said. He appealed not only to the state government but also to well-meaning individuals in the area to contribute to the rehabilitation of the school and improve the future of the children.
Highlighting the challenges facing the agrarian community, Obi Okonkwo further urged Governor Oborevwori to give priority to the rehabilitation of Adonte Road. According to him, farmers in the area face serious difficulties transporting their produce to urban markets, hampering economic growth and food supply.
The monarch also commended the Chief Executive Officer of MIO Group of Companies, Architect Ikechukwu Odide, for his selfless contributions to the development of the community. He described Odide as “an uncommon philanthropist with genuine concern for the welfare of Adonte and its people.”
