ASABA/Nigeria: In a somber statement released today, it has been revealed that Ezinne Gold Obinnaya Egege (nee Ahuchuogu), aged 68, has sadly passed away. Mrs. Egege was the beloved mother-in-law of Delta State’s Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA.
The announcement, signed by Sir Ishmael Egege, the Deputy Governor’s father-in-law, conveyed the heartbreaking news that Mrs. Egege breathed her last on October 30, 2022, following a brief illness.
According to the statement, the final rites for the departed will take place on Friday, October 6, 2023. A funeral service will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church in Ntiagha-Uzo, Isi-Ahaba Autonomous Community, Amuka, Isiala-Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State.
Comrade Fidelis Egugbo, the Senior Special Assistant (Media), in a statement on Tuesday in Asaba, expressed the shock and sorrow felt by Sir Onyeme upon the loss of his mother-in-law. Mr. Egugbo shared that Mrs. Egege’s passing occurred during the heated campaign season for the 2023 general elections. The Deputy Governor expressed his deep gratitude to Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, as well as political leaders, friends, and family members who provided unwavering support during the trying months leading up to the general elections and continue to stand by him as they prepare for her burial.
Describing Mrs. Egege as a loving mother who often visited his home to see her daughter and grandchildren, Sir Onyeme invited friends and family to join him in commemorating her life at the upcoming burial ceremonies scheduled for Thursday, October 5, and Friday, October 6, 2023, in Ntiagha-Uzo, Isi-Ahaba Autonomous Community, Amuka, Isiala-Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State.
Late Egege is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, and other grieving family members. This loss has undoubtedly left a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
