WARRI/Nigeria: Renowned peace and development advocate, Comrade (Dr.) Sheriff Mulade, has renewed his call for harmony and peaceful coexistence among ethnic nationalities in Delta State, particularly the Ijaw, Itsekiri, and Urhobo communities in the Warri Federal Constituency.

The Ibe-Serimowei of the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom made the appeal in Warri during this year’s International Day of Peace celebration, themed “Act Now for a Peaceful World.” He emphasized that peace is not just a lofty dream but an urgent necessity for building thriving communities.

“Let us use this occasion to reflect on our individual and collective roles in fostering peace, coexistence, understanding, and cooperation,” Dr. Mulade said, while cautioning traditional rulers, community leaders, and youths against being used as tools for violence or crises in Delta State. He urged them to champion dialogue and unity instead of division.

Dr. Mulade made a special plea to the Ijaw, Itsekiri, and Urhobo groups in Warri to reject divide-and-rule tactics, warning that “there is no open ticket for crisis beyond 2031 in Warri Federal Constituency.” He stressed that Warri needs permanent peace more than political contests, noting that stability would attract investors, generate jobs, and unlock development in the oil-rich city.

The human and environmental justice activist also called on all ethnic nationalities in Delta, including the Isoko and Anioma, to promote peace as the foundation for progress. He added that collective responsibility was crucial to ensure Warri and the wider Delta State remained free from conflict.

Dr. Mulade further urged maximum cooperation and support for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, assuring that peace and stability would enable his administration to deliver more dividends of democracy and sustainable development to the state.

“Together, we can make a difference in Warri and Delta State. Let us act now to promote peace, justice, and equality, and to build a world where everyone can live with dignity and respect,” he declared.
