WARRI/Nigeria: The campaign organization of Chief Sheriff Mulade has dismissed as false and fabricated a social media publication alleging that the Warri Federal Constituency aspirant conceded defeat and endorsed another contender following the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) primary election.
In a statement issued by the Director of Media and Publicity of Team Chief Sheriff Mulade Campaign Organization, Comrade Friday Ugedi, the campaign described the purported statement as a deliberate act of misinformation designed to create confusion among party members and undermine the outcome of the primary election.
The campaign maintained that Chief Mulade neither conceded defeat nor endorsed any other aspirant, insisting that he remains the duly elected winner of the NDC primary election for the Warri Federal Constituency.
According to the statement, the publication currently circulating on social media did not emanate from Chief Mulade or his campaign organization and should be disregarded by party faithful, supporters and members of the public.
“We wish to state categorically, unequivocally and without any ambiguity that the said statement is fake, fraudulent, concocted and the handiwork of desperate, bad-faith individuals who have been rattled by the overwhelming, massive and landslide victory recorded by Chief Sheriff Mulade during the primary election,” the statement said.
The campaign alleged that those behind the publication were attempting to manipulate public opinion after what it described as a rejection by delegates during the primary election.
It further stated that at no time did Chief Mulade issue any statement withdrawing from the contest, stepping down, conceding defeat or endorsing another aspirant.
The organization argued that the alleged misinformation campaign was driven by opponents unsettled by the level of support Chief Mulade enjoys among party members, delegates, youths, women and stakeholders across Warri North, Warri South and Warri South-West Local Government Areas.
According to the statement, some aggrieved elements had resorted to what it described as forgery, propaganda and the dissemination of false information rather than accepting the outcome of the primary election.
The campaign therefore urged the media and members of the public to verify information from official sources and ignore the purported statement circulating online.
It reaffirmed Chief Mulade’s commitment to democratic principles, transparency and justice, expressing confidence that the authentic results of the primary election would withstand scrutiny.
The statement added that no amount of misinformation, blackmail or political pressure would overturn what it described as the mandate freely given to Chief Mulade by delegates of the Warri Federal Constituency.
“The victory remains intact, the mandate remains valid, and the aspiration remains on course,” the statement concluded.
