My vote cast during the 2011 general election did not count in the country describing it as “trouble”. General Ogomudia who was the chairman of the occasion during the dedication of St. Matthias Catholic Church, Uzere in Isoko South LGA. According to the former Army Chief of Staff “my vote did not count in the last election. The politicians called it politics but i call it “trouble”
General Ogomudia also said before and after 2013 till date, not a single project from Delta State Oil Producing Development Commission, DESOPADEC, has been sited and constructed in Uzere Community which has two oil wells. He described Uzere Community and its people as the most “peaceful and crime free”. He frowned at the absence of minister from the Isoko nation since Independence.
Speaking further, General Ogomudia called on the elders of Uzere to make they available for the children and youths to look up to. He again frowned at the attitudes of the elders at the present age that had not shown good example for the youths to emulate.
In his homily, Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Warri, Most Rev.John Oke Afareha urged catholic faithfuls to be holy and renew their relationship with God stressing that the newly dedicated church building is meant for the confirmation and sacrament of matrimony. Bishop Afareha who described the church as a “symbol of faith” to its member’s advised worshippers to exhibit true faith in their actions.
