ASABA/Nigeria: As state contingents arrive for the 8th National Youth Games, the Organizing Committee is gearing up for the eligibility screening of athletes ahead of the commencement of competitions.
The screening process will take place throughout today, September 11, and will be conducted in three batches at different times of the day.
According to a release by the Main Organizing Committee (MOC), the first batch will undergo screening from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., covering sports such as Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Volleyball, Beach Volleyball, Boxing, Chess, Cricket, Cycling, Darts, Deaf Athletics, and Tennis.
The second batch, scheduled from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., will include athletes participating in Fives, Football, Golf, Gymnastics, Handball, Hockey, Judo, Karate, Kickboxing, Kungfu, and Traditional Sports (Abula), along with the remaining Volleyball teams.
The final batch, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., will cover Para-Athletics, Para-Table Tennis, Rugby 7, Scrabble, Shooting, Squash, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Traditional Sports (Kokowa and Ayo), Weightlifting, and Wrestling.
This 8th edition of the National Youth Games is exclusively for athletes under the age of 15.
