NDDA Hails President Tinubu, Senate Over SSDC Appointments, Congratulates Nwuche, Akpabio, Others
ABUJA/Nigeria: The Niger Delta Development Agenda (NDDA) has extended warm congratulations to Chibudom Nwuche on his appointment as Chairman of the newly created South-South Development Commission (SSDC), alongside the Managing Director, Usoro Offiong Akpabio, and other executive members of the Commission.
In a statement signed by its Convener, Comrade Iteveh Nurudeen Ekpokpobe, the NDDA commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it described as a bold and strategic move to establish the SSDC, following the collapse of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs. The group also applauded the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and the National Assembly for their legislative support in bringing the new commission to fruition.
According to the NDDA, the creation of the SSDC signals a renewed commitment to fast-track sustainable development and peace in the Niger Delta region. “We consider the appointments not only timely but strategic to the economic and infrastructural rebirth of the South-South,” the statement read.
The NDDA pledged its full support for the new leadership of the Commission and expressed optimism that the team will drive impactful policies and projects that will positively transform the region.
Those appointed to serve on the SSDC management team alongside Nwuche and Akpabio include Hon. Marcus Nie Eji as Executive Director, Projects; Engr. Aganaba Preye Steven as Executive Director, Social and Human Capital Development; Dr. Timi Alari Ayibatonye as Executive Director, Corporate Services; Hon. Joseph Ugheoke as Executive Director, Commercial and Environmental Development; and Ambassador Sony Abang as Executive Director, Finance, among others.
The NDDA urged the appointees to uphold transparency, accountability, and commitment to the ideals of regional development, stressing that the people of the Niger Delta are eager for a new era of progress and transformation.
