The president, who was still optimistic of Ndokwa Nation getting the NDDC position, says it is an issue of dialogue between the government of Delta State, the National Assembly and the people of Ndokwa. According to the president of the Apex body of Ndokwa people, he and the executive of NNU are determined to see to the end of the marginalization of the people of Ndokwa. And this will be achieved through continuous dialogue with the government at various levels.
On while the NNU was not present at the National Dialogue committee interactive session, he apologized for it and that he got the information late and to add to it his phone crashed so he could not discuss with his executives. However, he assured the people that the body will be fully represented at the National Conference when the time comes. That the body is working out the modalities for the Ndokwa Nation’s Agenda to be presented, while he equally used the conversation to assure the people that the NNU under his leadership will continue to fight for the emancipation of the Ndokwa Nation from marginalization by the various interest groups in the country and the Nigerian state.
Speaking further on the issue of the National Conference, the NNU president decried the action of some persons and groups clamouring to be speaking for the Anioma Nationality. He says that there is nothing like the Anioma Nation. That Anioma is not an ethnic group and such should not be pursued. He vowed to fight against such distractors who want to take advantage of others.
· NPSF Presents a Three Point Demand at the National Dialogue Interactive Session
The Ndokwa Political Stakeholders Forum, (NPSF), at the recent interactive session held in the Ancient City of Benin, presented a three point Demand. The Secretary to the group, Chief Oyibosochuku told the Ndokwa Reporters that the body presented the paper as a Political-Pressure group, and did not take the position of the NNU.
According to the NPSF Secretary, the three demands were:
1. The recognition of the Ndokwa People as an ethnic group, and thus should be accorded that recognition in all spheres of government activities.
2. Nigeria should operate true federalism, and not the unitary system that is presently being operated.
3. The resources of the country should be based on control by the Local Governments, and percentages to be given to the state and the federal be determined.
He also confirmed the disruption of the interactive session by some thugs, but said that the submission of the group was handed over to the committee after the incidence. When asked what the session was to achieve outside the conference proper, he said the session was organized to seek from various interest groups the best way to have such conference organized.
