ABUJA/Nigeria: In a remarkable recognition of its contributions to national security, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) was awarded by the Nigerian Police Force for its exceptional partnership in maintaining the country’s security architecture.
The prestigious award was presented to the NDDC at the Inaugural Nigerian Police Awards and Commendation Ceremony held at the Congress Hall of Trancorp Hilton Hotels, Abuja.
The award, received by the Managing Director of the Commission, Chief Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, singled out the NDDC as the only corporate body honoured at the ceremony, which was graced by Vice President Alhaji Kashim Shettima, representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as well as other top government officials, Security Chiefs, and prominent personalities from within and outside the country.
Inspector General of Police, IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, lauded the NDDC for its unwavering support to the Police Force, noting that the partnership had significantly contributed to reducing crime rates in the Niger Delta region. He highlighted the proactive approach of the NDDC in addressing security challenges and commended Dr. Ogbuku for his effective leadership.
Expressing his appreciation, Chief Samuel Ogbuku reiterated the NDDC’s commitment to enhancing peace and security in Nigeria, pledging continued support to combat criminal activities, including theft, vandalism, and illegal oil bunkering, particularly in the Niger Delta region.
The Nigerian Police Awards and Commendations Ceremony aims to recognize and reward outstanding officers who demonstrate exceptional dedication, bravery, and professionalism in the line of duty. The IGP expressed gratitude to the NDDC for its role in contributing to the overall safety and security in Nigeria.
