11-MAN DELEGATES FROM NDOKWA YOUTH FORUM ABUJA (NYFA) HAD A CLOSE DOOR SESSION WITH HON. OSSAI NICHOLAS OSSAI YESTERDAY 15TH NOVEMBER, 2016, PROMISED PARTNERSHIP WITH HIS OFFICE TO PROMOTE THE COURSE OF DEVELOPMENT IN THE AREA.

11-Man Delegates from Ndokwa Youth Forum Abuja yesterday held a close door session with the Chairman House Committee on Ethics and Privileges (Hon. Ossai N. Ossai) who doubles as the member representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency at the Green Chambers of the National Assembly. The Delegates led by the President of the group Mr. Cletus Olisemeke appreciated Hon. Ossai Ossai for the audience even at a time when his attention is needed most on other National assignments.

Highlights of the visit was unveiled by the group’s coordinator Mr. Celestine Ochonogor who drew the attention of Hon. Ossai Ossai to the issues of “how far he had gone with the struggle for stepping down of the Independent Power Plant, however, the group did not hesitate to applaud his laudable efforts so far but lamented that nearly all communities in Ndokwa nation are paying for darkness supplied by PHCN despite the huge contributions from the area to the Nation’s Economic Hub.

Other issues brought to the fore include but not limited to abandoned projects in the area, marginalization of Ndokwa Ethnic Nationality in the ongoing NDDC projects, the role he (Hon. Ossai Ossai) played in the ongoing Amnesty programme that have taken over the media space. Another vital issue raised by the Secretary of the Group Comr. Chukwuemeke K. Victor (Mr. Due Process, as he is fondly called by close associates) which he described as “mind boggling and thought provoking” is the management of the Ten Million Naira said to be released  by DESOPADEC on monthly basis.

Reacting to the issues raised, Hon. Ossai Ossai appreciated the group for their time, acknowledging that “it is good that we are having such a meeting as it affects the development of Ndokwa/Ukwuani Constituency” he noted that “through collaborative efforts with groups and individuals from the constituency, lot have been achieved” He noted that recently, he merged efforts with some individuals and they were able to push in a project into FERMA. Reacting to how far he had gone with the IPP project, he reiterated that much efforts has been made but that it is better to allow silence to do the work while success makes the noise, he assured that all efforts concerning the stepping down of the IPP for the use of Ndokwa/Ukwuani people will reflect in the 2017 budget. In a quick response to the abandoned projects in the constituency and the monthly funds released by DESOPADEC, Hon. Ossai Ossai who did not dwell much on them only said that “they are State related matters and should be handled by those elected to represent the area at the State House of Assembly”.

In a similar reaction to the NDDC projects and the commission’s marginalization of Ndokwa nation, Hon. Ossai Ossai stated in clear terms that he “was not incorporated in the picture” he further noted that the Chairman Senate Committee on NDDC who doubles as the Senator Representing Delta North at the Red Chambers of the National Assembly (Ndokwa/Ukwuani inclusive) “seems to be self-styled in taking decisions that affects the District. He said Senator “Nwaboshi had not deem it fit to call the junior Legislators from the District for a  meeting”. In another reaction, he (Hon. Ossai) said he endorsed the youth groups that approached him for the Amnesty programme and that he has spoken with Brigadier-General Paul Boroh who is the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme on how his people should be treated and/or handled.

While members of the 11-Man Delegates contributed on how the constituency can be further developed (if any development), the President of the group Mr. Cletus Olisemeke who led the delegation assured Hon. Ossai of his group’s unflinching commitments in supporting his four years representation at the 8th Assembly in the House of Representatives and further assured him that the group will remember him for his vibrancy in the floor and excellent performance.
